In September, key stakeholders of the Bounce Coalition convened at the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky to reflect on the Coalition’s journey, reaffirm its mission, and chart a new path forward.
The day began with a warm welcome, followed by a reflective session on Bounce’s history and impact. Members revisited key milestones that have shaped the organization, including impactful collaborations and the Coalition’s dedication to building resilience in communities through education about adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).
Keith Hickman, Co-Chair shared:
“Our recent Bounce Coalition retreat marked a pivotal moment for our future, reshaping how organizations address childhood trauma by implementing strategies that foster more positive experiences. It provided a vital space for reflection and forward thinking, helping us align on our vision for the next decade. While the challenges ahead are significant, our resolve to drive meaningful change in communities across Kentucky is stronger than ever.”
Dawn Burke, Coalition member reflected on a quote by Mattie Stephanek:
“In unity there is strength and when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved. I’m looking forward to the wonderful things we are going to do together through the future of the Bounce Coalition.”
Tony Zipple, Co-Chair and longtime member of the Coalition shared:
“The Bounce Coalition has accomplished so much during its first decade. We have provided training on ACEs for more than 20,000 people. We have helped schools, hospitals, insurance companies, public health departments, and social service organizations better understand and respond to the needs of people challenged by ACEs. Our planning retreat was an important step in preparing for our work during the next decade. There have been many successes but there is so much more to do as we work to improve the resilience of individuals, families, and communities.”
As Bounce embarks on this next chapter, the Coalition remains committed to building resilient communities and continuing its vital work to help individuals and families bounce back from adversity. As a team, we are so excited to enter a new stage of Bounce’s journey and we can’t wait to share with our supporters. We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank CVS Health for their financial support for our strategic planning.
The Bounce Coalition builds the resiliency of children, adults, and families by improving knowledge about the impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and skills such as trauma-informed practices, to help people not only better serve others, but help people bounce back from adversity.
